Cathy has a long-standing passion for self-development and assisting individuals in realizing their authentic gifts, goals, and purpose. An intuitive and perceptive practitioner, she works with clients from the inside out to make key shifts that align with their highest vision. She developed the Self-Leadership process over the course of many years of intensive study and work across multiple disciplines, including psychology, social work, organization development, meditation, cultural studies, and the arts.
Cathy brings over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and in hospitals, working as a community organizer, program officer, training director, recruiter, and organization development consultant. She has also served as career coaching expert with her column, Ask Cathy on idealist.org; made contributions to The Idealist Guide to Nonprofit Careers; been featured in Working Mother magazine as expert of the month; and, most recently, in The Wasington Post. Additionally, Cathy has had a career-long commitment to supporting girls’ and young women’s development that dates back to her work as a youth and women’s advocate. Her writings on the subject are included in the book Front Line Feminism, and she is featured as an expert in the forthcoming title Supergirls Speak Out: Inside the Secret Crisis of Overachieving Girls, which details the extreme pressures placed on young women in our culture.
Cathy’s own ongoing work with Self-Leadership has guided her in reaching goals close to her heart including publishing a book of poetry, transforming her apartment into an art installation, traveling overland from the southern most city in the world to Machu Picchu, and developing her own approach to self-development. She is a licensed master social worker with an MSW from Smith College and a BA in Psychology from Wesleyan University.
